Jiva is Creating a Sustainable Community Investment Plan
December 5, 2019 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Jiva has launched a social investment plan to help build and grow sustainable communities in 2020 and onward. This plan will focus on the themes of Energy, Environmental, Social, and Economic Sustainability. The plan consists of four programs that are designed to contribute to our communities at different scales. Details of each program will be released in January 2020.
Why you won’t see our name… We are happy to share some examples of our community investment initiatives on our website however you won’t see our name in the community because we believe the value of a contribution is not enhanced by advertising sponsorship and that recognition for our efforts should not be a condition of our contribution.
How Jiva’s Life-Work Balance Benefits its Employees
May 14, 2019 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - In this compilation we asked Jiva staff to tell us how our flexible culture benefits their life-work balance. Jiva employees choose the hours they work and can spend 40% of their time working from home. In addition, employees can adjust their hours to accommodate their diverse and dynamic lifestyles. The flexible work schedule is part of our company’s health and wellness philosophy, intended to give employees the opportunity to enjoy their other passions.
Staff members have expressed how flexibility has benefited their lives, by letting them enjoy their hobbies and extracurricular activities, taking the time to focus on personal wellbeing and mental health, spending extra time at home with their families, or supporting growth and change as they reach milestones in their lives. We hope to promote, inspire, and increase acceptance and adoption of a dynamic and adaptable life-work balance in the workplace. Employee health and wellness creates benefits for all.
Jiva is Changing Our Name to Reflect Our Changing Identity
May 3, 2019 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Today, PBOK (Pipeline Body of Knowledge Technical Training Limited) has changed its operating name to Jiva to better reflect the scope of services this company delivers to the energy industry as a whole.
PBOK was formed in 2013 and originally, the staff provided consulting services to the pipeline industry, largely focusing on pipeline integrity. Since then, the company has expanded its services to the energy industry beyond pipelines. Jiva has built a larger portfolio of projects, including services to companies in energy production, transportation, and storage. We hope that the name Jiva, (the Sanskrit word for ‘Energy’) better reflects our changing identity in a changing world.
Jiva is Welcomed to Calgary’s University Research Park
February 5, 2018 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Jiva has moved from the community of Hillhurst to new offices in the Alastair Ross Technology Centre at the University Research Park of northwest Calgary. The new space will accommodate Jiva’s growing workforce and the location will give Jiva staff an opportunity to become more involved in an innovative campus and business community.
The open-concept design removes physical barriers, increases social interaction, and contributes to Jiva's collaborative work structure. By offering a variety of spaces to choose from, a mix of individual and group workspaces, staff have the flexibility to adapt to their work day. Our hope is that this flexible environment will encourage a diversity of learning, collaborating, and working strategies for all our employees.
Jiva Presents Energizing Calgary, a Light Sculpture at Beakerhead 2016
September 12, 2016 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Jiva’s Centre for Pipeline Knowledge is eager to present at a light sculpture at Beakerhead 2016, a festival smash-up of science, art, and engineering. The sculpture, Energizing Calgary, will be on display on Stephen Avenue Mall in Calgary’s downtown core after work hours from 5:00pm to 8:00pm from September 14 to 16.
The play of light and shadow will engage children and adults as they consider the aspects of math, physics, and engineering that were used to build the piece. Our anticipation is for the sculptured cityscape and projected chinook winds to resonate with Calgarians and remind people of the optimism that defines our city. Energizing Calgary is accompanied by a quote by Walt Whitman, “Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.”
