Position Overview
PBOK Consulting (Pipeline Body of Knowledge) is seeking an Instructional Designer who will support the development of company and client work. The successful candidate will work closely with other team members, including researchers, subject matter experts (SMEs), technical writers, and e-learning developers to develop content and deploy material into an optimal learning format. The Instructional Designer will have a key role in ensuring that a consistent and high quality of work is delivered both internally and externally to clients.
Primary Responsibilities
• Instructional design support on a range of company and client projects
• Identify instructional methods (e.g. online, classroom, or blended) to best suit content
• Collaborate with course development team members to guide course descriptions, define learning objectives, and create engaging interactions
• Support the technical writer to plan and develop content for courses
• Collaborate with the E-learning developer to create online solutions to effectively and efficiently support learning outcomes and enhance learner experience
• Prepare and support Project Manager in facilitation for working sessions
• Create clear, concise, accurate, and effective storyboards
• Perform training needs analysis and evaluate existing documentation
• Create assessments using evaluation methodologies that measure the impact of successful knowledge transfer
• Contribute to a systematic design and development model to improve resources and minimize the development time for future training materials
• Consistently apply style, formatting, and process guidelines
• Conduct quality control reviews of courses at various stages of development
• Manage workload for multiple course development projects simultaneously
Competencies
• A strong understanding of standard applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Success Factors or equivalent and software such as Articulate, Captivate
• Past experience in e-learning content development using Captivate, Articulate, or similar software program is an asset
• Experience developing courses for online delivery
• Knowledge and skills required to present technical and procedural content clearly
• Great eye for usability and judgment for when/how to leverage graphical solutions
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate to all levels of the organization and clients
• Team-oriented with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
• Strong research and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects
Experience
Two to five years of instructional design experience in a corporate setting, preferably in a technical or e-learning environment. A degree in education or adult learning is an asset.
