Position Overview
The Classroom Instructor will be supporting a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the delivery of material in PBOK’s classroom offerings as well as occasional client sessions. PBOK class offerings are variable in length, typically from one to four days. The format is also variable; content is usually delivered face-to-face in the classroom or online. For example, a day may consist of a technical component taught by the SME with the instructor leading a half day facilitated session using PBOK’s online material.

As an extension to the classroom facilitation, the successful candidate will work with a project team on course development and improvement based on session feedback. From time to time, PBOK’s consulting clients have additional instructional needs and the individual may have an opportunity to undertake further work depending on specific needs and timing.

Primary Responsibilities
• Organize classroom logistics including assisting with planning, researching, booking services/facilities, and general follow-up
• Ensure that PBOK introductory material is delivered at the beginning of each session
• Support subject matter expert to ensure professional delivery of PBOK materials
• Facilitate learning of technical material such as basic computer navigation skills as well as PBOK online course navigation
• Help with minor technical issues
• Conduct classroom surveys
• Log concerns, questions, and noting areas of improvement

Development
• Recommend improvements for course presentation and delivery
• Collaborate with the team (Product Owner, Instructional Designer, Subject Matter Expert) to plan content changes
• Work with the team to develop innovative online resources

Estimated Hours
The Instructor will be required to deliver PBOK material for different courses. The amount of work for this position will vary from a low of approximately 10 hours per week to a high of 44 hours per week, course dependent. It is likely that 2017 sessions will be concentrated in April, August and December. Occasional support of consulting client facilitation may also be required, the structure of which is variable and would be mutually agreed in advance.

Competencies


Technical Skills
• Basic operating skills for A/V equipment such as projectors and SMART Boards
• Ability to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connections and the use internet browsers
• Proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Office
• Strong research, organizational, and problem solving skills with attention to detail
• Familiarity with webinar delivery would be an asset

Communications Skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Knowledge and skills required to present procedural content clearly
• Familiarity with methods and practices designed for adult teaching and learning
• Empathy to assist students in unfamiliar environments, especially those returning to learning
• Team-oriented with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment

Experience
Three to five years of teaching and/or facilitation experience with a diversity of audiences with an emphasis on adults. Familiarity with online learning is beneficial.

Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $30- $35 / hour. We also support flexible, innovative work models with some unique benefits. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
